My name is Andy Gardiner. Born in 1956 in Berkshire, England, my childhood environment where I loved to play, was beautiful green fields and woodlands. Seeing these all destroyed as motorways and thousands of new homes were built was a destruction of nature that left a big impact in my mind.
I moved to Devon in the 1980’s. I work in oils and watercolour. My oil paintings have an impressionistic style, using vivid complementary colours which is intended to evoke feelings from deep emotions. I express how we affect and influence the look of the natural surroundings. I want colour to transport you to a realm of intensity where light takes on various shapes, shadows and reflections of tremendous hue.
I want the paintings to feel our awareness of existence whilst looking at man-made structures to add aesthetics and embrace the natural environment; or simply take away.
